Raindrops

How welcome are the raindrops
That sparkle in the sun
Falling from the tree tops
Dropping one by one
High among the mountain tops
Where they like to gather;
Filling streams among the rocks
To rush along together
Raindrops at their best in Spring
Come to us in showers
Happy gardeners see them bring
Refreshment for their flowers
How welcome are the raindrops
Upon the arid ground
To the farmers and their crops
And to everyone around
As raindrops freshen up the earth
They raise up our spirits too
Bringing happiness and mirth
As well as pastures new.

New Year

Now that it is New Year,
Time to start afresh my dear.
The life we have is precious,
A wonderful feeling to possess.
The beginnings of something good,
After world of darkness stood.
Rises like the morning sun,
And victories to be won.
To grasp, to grope for what to see,
The meaning of life, for you and me.
Find what you would like to know,
In these depths our thoughts do grow.
The light amidst the darkness there,
Which holds the dreams of love and care.
Of hopes and wishes we are to share,
And make them true and not despair.
We could make well the sick and ill,
If we make the old world stand so still.
We could stop the wars and end the pain,
Life would be so worthwhile again.
With happy faces everywhere,
And everyone without a care.
The world would be a better place,
Instead of just a big disgrace.
What a wondrous year this would be,
With sunlight shining down on me.

Winter

Winter is here with its cold fingers,
And its frosty breath:
Where Jack Frost lingers.
It freezes the ground,
With snow abound.
The frost twinkles and shines,
In the faint weak sun aside.
It freezes the ground like,
Broken diamond necklace.
The days are cold and shorter now,
And darkness comes so soon:
Rivers lie still and silent now.
Flocks of starlings fly home to roost:
Trees stand bare and lifeless,
Against the dull grey sky to caress.
The biting wind nips at your nose,
Hot breath can be seen above.
Ducks slither and slide,
The friendly robin is back behind.
His feathers fluffed up to keep warm:
Lights come on in people's houses,
To be with their spouses.
There may be snow,
But you are not alone.
